Poultry Bone Broth: Duck is New!
Brainy Belly Chicken Bone Broth is made with pasture raised chickens, all from less than 100 miles away in Maryland and Pennsylvania. Recently we have added Duck Bone Broth, from pastured birds, raised by the same supplier. We insist on pasture raised birds because chasing around after bugs all day means their strong bones are packed with gelatin and even better, they taste so much better. We include heritage breed birds whenever possible for their unique, rich flavor. Read more about our D'Artagnan, our valued supplier.
Starting with filtered water, the pot is filled with meaty chicken backs, wings and organic vegetables to infuse the broth with full rich flavor as cooking releases the gelatin, collagen and trace minerals. Once finished, it is strained, cooled and packed in heavyweight, BPA-free 24oz plastic bags, then frozen. Online orders are shipped to you in a sustainable shipping sleeve (no styrofoam!) container with dry ice when needed.
We pressure cook our broth which is not the traditional recipe. A shorter cook time limits histamines in the final product and also prevents neurotoxic glutamates which can be an issue with long simmered broth. Gelatin content is high and this bioavailable collagen supports and restores your body's vital systems.
Frozen broth will easily keep for 6 months or longer. Once thawed, it's best consumed within 7 days. Thaw by running cold water over it or placing in the refrigerator overnight. The 24 oz package thaws quickly and the 6 oz cups even faster! We suggest heating in hot water or microwaving thawed broth for 60 seconds or less. Be sure to remove the foil seal first.
